For those who want to have everything auspicious when it comes to money in the new year, here’s the Li Chun (立春) timetable to bank in your hard-earned money.
Li Chun is known as the first day of Spring in the Chinese calendar and traditionally farmers pray for a prosperous new year during this very day.
There are hardly any farmers in Singapore, folks here have invented a new way to welcome the Lunar New Year – by depositing money into bank accounts on Li Chun.
Li Chun falls on the 4 February this year, so if you are heading to the banks in hopes of good fortune for the rest of the year, expect long queues.
According to some, interbank fund transfer works too. It’s entirely up to you as to how to interpret Li Chun.
